About Dr. Mohammed Al Sharif

Consultant cataract, cornea and refractive surgeon and assistant professor at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences. He practises at King Abdulaziz Medical City (National Guard) in Riyadh and sees patients at his clinic at Al Habib Specialist Hospital.

Dr. Al Sharif graduated from the College of Medicine at King Saud University in Riyadh and knew from his student years that he wanted a surgical specialty. He chose ophthalmology because it is precise and calm, and because the result of an operation shows on the patient immediately — that direct impact is still what he loves about his work.

He completed his ophthalmology residency in Canada at McGill University and obtained the Canadian and then the American Board of Ophthalmology, with sub-specialty training in corneal surgery, refractive surgery and cataract surgery. He practised as a consultant ophthalmologist in Canada before returning to Saudi Arabia.

Today he is a consultant at King Abdulaziz Medical City (National Guard) in Riyadh and an assistant professor at the College of Medicine, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, where he trains ophthalmology residents and conducts research; his published work includes studies on keratoconus and corneal cross-linking.

What he most wants to change is people's fear of eye surgery. He believes vision correction is a simple, safe procedure — on one condition he never compromises: thorough testing and corneal imaging beforehand. That is why he declines to operate on anyone who is not a suitable candidate, and tells them so plainly.

Precision above all

Everything is measured, imaged and executed precisely — nothing rushed, nothing guessed.

Credibility

No exaggerated results, no downplaying of tests, no promises of miracles.

Patient first

Surgery is recommended only when it clearly serves the patient — and declined for anyone it does not suit.

Respect & transparency

Every step explained in plain language, every question answered honestly and without hurry.

Outside the clinic

Spontaneous and approachable. He loves football, the sea, swimming and travel — and drinks only Arabic coffee. On his social channels he shares practical eye-health tips and answers his followers' questions.
